Dred Scott Case by Diane Kroupa

This is the Old Courthouse in downtown St. Louis. It was in March of 1857 that Dred Scott's case (which began in this courthouse) was heard by the United States Supreme Court. Dred Scott was a negro slave who unsuccessfully sued to gain his freedom.
