The Arch is the tallest structure in the City of St. Louis and any buildings constructed since it was built are not allowed to be taller. a Technical Details An official City Ordinance supports this. There are candles in each of the windows in the dome section of the courthouse. The Mississippi River is on the other side of the arch.
