Saguaros sometimes grow in odd or misshapen forms. the growing tip occasionally produces a fan-like form which is referred to as crested, These crested saguaros are somewhat rare and I was lucky enough to see one on our trip. Some biologist speculate
Technical Details
that this crested saguaro is a genetic mutation. It was something special to see on this saguaro which was about 60 feet tall. This capture taken at Superstition Mountain, Apache Junction, Arizona.
