While the main draw of the small mountain village of Pano Lafkara, Cyprus, is the fine lace and silverware made there, I turned my steps in the direction of the backstreets to find casual corner cameos like this.

The ancient cliff-top city of Curion on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. These arches are from the Romano/Christian period about 2nd century AD. Other parts of the site date from 7th century BC to late 4th century AD.

Richmond, Surrey, UK. About 6:300 am. The sun in the lens and through the mist and bouncing from the frosty ground were all against me but I could see the possibilities. This became my printed Christmas card this year.

Taken on a trip to Kenya about 6:00 am. I wanted to retain the gold left side and darkened right side, also the rippled water at top to keep attention on the subject . Hence no crop and a centralised subject. Spot-metered from just above the LH guy.
